"Legacy of Lies": Photojournalist Robert Nickelsberg looks back at El Salvador's civil war
His new book covers his years covering the conflict for Time Magazine.
Hello and welcome to The Rob Burgess Show. I am, of course, your host, Rob Burgess.
On this our 255th episode our guest is Robert Nickelsberg.
Robert Nickelsberg worked as a Time magazine contract photographer for nearly 30 years beginning in El Salvador and Central America from 1981 to 1984. He is the author of, “Afghanistan – A Distant War,” published by Prestel and “Afghanistan’s Heritage: Restoring Spirit and Stone,” done in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State, published in English, Dari and Pashtu.
His latest book, “Legacy of Lies: El Salvador 1981–1984,” will be published Sept. 3.
In other news, I was recently interviewed by Naomi DuBovis for her story, "How business journalists can build a career in the trade press," which was just published by The Reynolds Center for Business Journalism. I think she did a great job. Check it out: https://businessjournalism.org/2024/08/trade-press/
I also found out today that I may have the opportunity to once again interview Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb in the next few weeks as he finishes his final term. He was previously a guest on The Rob Burgess Show on Episode 221. If you have any burning questions you’d like me to ask, please let me know.
Well, that’s all I have for you this week. Talk to you next Friday.
Best,
Rob
